Manchester Tech Festival 2022 roundup

Manchester Tech Festival – it’s a wrap!
WeDo: Digital was a proud headline sponsor for the first-ever Manchester Tech Festival, which took place October 17-21 2022.
Many team members were in attendance throughout the week, helping with our stand and delivering talks.
Carry on reading to get the lowdown!
WeDo: Digital took to the stage
Our team held several talks throughout the week, sharing expertise on everything from leadership to software development.
Monday October 17, 11:30am: How do you solve a problem like hybrid working? | Leadership Conference, People’s History Museum
Lee Turver, WeDo: Digital Co-Founder, joined a panel of leaders at the sold-out Leadership Conference to discuss the impact and future of hybrid working.
Lee shared his positive experience of heading up a remote-first business, and how the future should enable employees to enjoy flexibility.
Thursday October 20, 12:15pm: Growing pains: Modernising a monolith | Technical Stage at Victoria Baths
Kurtis Hardy, Development Lead, and Michael Monk, Developer, took to the largest stage (a former swimming pool!) to talk about their experience in modernising a client’s business-critical application with minimum disruption or downtime.

Thursday October 20, 2pm: A tech firm goes to a dinner party… | Startup & Scaleup Stage at Victoria Baths
Michael Greaves, Delivery Lead, shared how tech firms can balance their focus on tech and commercial – by personifying the roles different business types would play at a dinner party.
About the stand
The team pitched up at Stand 13 in the main hall to meet and greet attendees. Our stand was amongst some of the biggest names in digital / tech in Manchester, including BBC, EY, and On The Beach.
Stoppers by could grab a WeDo: Digital swag bag and a sweet treat with our very popular pick ‘n’ mix!
Visitors were invited to try out our interactive game Headline Hoax Hunt – a quick-fire quiz to spot the facts from the fake news. The game was created as part of our recent Hackathon – and the developers behind the tech attended the event to host the game.
Best of all, one lucky winner would be entered into a prize draw to win a brand-new iPad Air.
And the winner is…
Congratulations to Emma Tattershall, Machine Learning Engineer from Naimuri, whose top score won her the grand prize.
Our Co-Founder, Lee Turver, even hand-delivered the goods!
We had a great time at Manchester Tech Festival 2022 – thank you to everyone who joined us at our stand and talks. Plus, a special shoutout to the event organisers!
